(Bal-e-Jibril-055) Mujhe Aah-o-Fighan-e-Neem Shab Ka Phir Peyam Aya

Mujhe Aah-o-Faghan-e-Neem Shab Ka Phir Peyam Aya
Tham Ae Rehru Ke Shaid Phir Koi Mushkil Maqam Aya

Once more I feel the urge to wail and weep at dead of night:
O traveller, stop a bit, perchance I face some awful site.

Zara Taqdeer Ki Gehraiyon Mein Doob Ja Tu Bhi
Ke Iss Jangah Se Main Ban Ke Taeg-e-Be Nayam Aya

Awhile in dark abyss of Fate Dive and see beneath:
Out of this battlefield I come like sword out of the sheath.

Ye Misra Likh Diya Kis Shoukh Ne Ne Mehrab-e-Masjid Par
Ye Nadan Gir Gye Sajdon Mein Jab Waqt-e-Qayam Aya

This verse some man with witty mind on niche of mosque did write:
These fools fell prostrate on the earth, When it was time to fight.”

Chal, Ae Meri Gharibi Ka Tamasha Dekhne Wale
Woh Mehfil Uth Gyi Jis Dam To Mujh Tak Dour-e-Jaam Aya

O man, who at my misery scoff, Follow the road you tread:
When the cup to me was passed, The gathering all had fled.

Diya Iqbal Ne Hindi Musalmanon Ko Souz Apna
Ye Ek Mard-e-Tan Asan Tha, Tan Asanon Ke Kaam Aya

Iqbal his glow to Muslims lent, Who in India dwell:
An easy‐going man he was and served the sluggards well.

Issi Iqbal Ki Main Justuju Karta Raha Barson
Bari Muddat Ke Baad Akhir Woh Shaheen Zair-e-Daam Aya

To find Iqbal for years on end I did chafe and fret:
By effort great that kingly hawk has come within my net.
