(Zarb-e-Kaleem-058) Adam

Adam

Tilism-e-Bood-o-Aadam , Jis Ka Naam Hai Adam
Khuda Ka Raaz Hai, Qadir Nahin Hai Jis Pe Sukhan

The talisman wrought from mud and clay, Whom we give the name of man,
Is mystery known to God alone, Its essence true we can not scan.

Zamana Subah-e-Azal Se Raha Hai Mehv-e-Safar
Magar Ye Iss Ki Tag-o-Dou Se Ho Saka Na Kuhan

Since Creationʹs Early Morn began time is engaged in constant flight,
Has tried to leave its trace on man, But has not met success e’en slight.

Agar Na Ho Tujhe Uljhan To Khol Kar Keh Doon
Wujood-e-Hazrat-e-Insan Na Rooh Hai Na Badan

If you do not get much disturbed, to you this truth I may unroll
That man, Godʹs image, on the earth is neither frame of clay nor soul.

    1. well Iqbal have told you the secrete in this. Bood o AAdam means hast o neest...... in fact it is like "nafi asbat ka paani milyas ( kalma Tayyaba)"... he used the word secrete as it is known to few and not all because secrete mean more than one or few know about it...it will not be secrete if only Allah or All will know about it.... and since its creation it is busy in finding here and there and trying but he could not define himself ( i.e. a man if asked who is he, he can not pen point that this is who i am) because if he says it "badan" then it is wrong as body itself can't prove itself. the more you try to define body or wajood (Hast) the more it goes to "neest" because it then composed of parts and thus it itself loses its identity even the part then goes into different components such as bones, meat flesh and so on. like if someone say i ("body" is who i am) then ask him if he loses a part of the body such as Hand will he be still the man? yes off-course he will still be which proves that insan is not body at all.... body can be a property of insan like house(makaan), even Allah says in Quran that He is nearer to insan than his "shahrag". means body could be my property or makaan where man live but not makaan itself. similarly Rooh is for the body nourishment..... so the search is narrowed and that is where a man starts to get confused.. that is why "agar na ho tujhay uljhan" to baat "raaz" is told and you need to dig it to find your self as "maan arafa nafsuho paqad arafa Rabbuho"

  8. It is on 'Nature of Man'. According to Iqbal, it's a mystery. It is a composition of soul and body. But we cannot say it is either soul or body. According to Iqbal, Khuda k Raz ha. Language fails to describe it.
