Hayat-e-Abdi
Eternal Life
Zindagaani Hai Sadaf, Qatra-e-Neesan Hai Khudi
Woh Sadaf Kya Ke Jo Qatre Ko Guhar Kar Na Sake
Life is a like a shell and ego like a drop of April shower—
It is unbecoming a shell if it cannot turn the drop into a pearl.
Ho Agar Khudnigar-o-Khudgar-o-Khudgeer Khudi
Ye Bhi Mumkin Hai Ke Tu Mout Se Bhi Mer Na Sake
If the ego is self‐preserving, self‐creating and self‐sustaining,
Then it is possible that even death may not make you die.

can any one explain me the last lines
ReplyDeleteLife is like a drop of water and most prior wish of every drop of a water is to become the part of a river and eventually the part of see so Iqbal is conveying is message that a man is created for best so it is his duty to be best and recognize himself and it is the best level of a human for which he is created.
DeleteHo agar "Hud nigr o hud gr o hud geer" means if you are having the sense of recognizing yourself and sense of differentiating between what are you doing is right and wrong and the knowledge you have gained, you bring it to practice to know what is wrong and what is right and if you are able to do this, This might happen that death can't overtake you and your name will not be buried with you body. Your name will remain in the world. People will use to talk about the level of success and self-recognition you have achieved is amazing and you will be remembered by the people around the world till the day of judgement like Iqbal
Junaid Ali Thanks !

ReplyDeletedear , it dos'nt means edo but we can use it in the sense of "Khudi"
DeleteThis Best Poetry In My eyes, I M so happy to see this truth of life
ReplyDeletekhudi mean person ..ego ..it,s mean poet talking abt ur self
ReplyDeleteAn easy way of thinking about Khudi is substituting the word with 'will power' (including the will to act against injustice) wherever you encounter it in Iqbal's poetry. Remember however, Khudi is a wider concept which incorporates more than just the will power, it also encompasses the underlying reasons (desire of Jihad) and many other concepts that I have yet to understand, but 'will power' is a good starting point to understand Iqbal's poetry, with "Ghareebi" being desperation.
ReplyDelete" Ghareebi mein Nigehbaani Khudi Ki" means, not compromising even in the most desperate situations.
Now, from what I have read and understood, the last lines are trying to tell us that if we can strengthen our Will to act on the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah, even in the most Desperate and Difficult situations, while keeping Faith in Allah and not losing hope and not worrying about the consequences (meaning we strengthen our Khudi so much that is is now an inseparable part of our very being), then "even death may not be able to make you die", which is a level of respect reserved for Shuhada (Martyrs) in the Quran.
Thank you Iqbal for your work. Inshallah, even if nobody else does it, I will implement this understanding of the Quran on myself.
Thanks for a beautiful explanation, I will try to implement this.
DeleteThanks a lot. Happy from your spirit
DeleteKhud ki salahiyat paida karne se har kaam aasan ho jaata hai
ReplyDeletebrothers in my opinion khudi means prevention of one's self respect in rainy days. You don't bend or ask alms from anyone but Allah......in my opinion following poetry best explains KHUDI:-
ReplyDeleteWo aik sajda jisay to giran samhajta hai
Hazar sajday se deta hai aadmi ko nijad
One get to know the meaning more and more as his connection with Allah gets stronger and stronger till your heart gets in communication with Allah.............In other words once you set on a journey of ISHQ E MAJAZI....................

Surah Hashar 59:19: اور ان لوگوں جیسے نہ ہونا جنہوں نے خدا کو بھلا دیا تو خدا نے انہیں ایسا کردیا کہ خود اپنے تئیں بھول گئے۔ یہ بدکردار لوگ ہیں
ReplyDeleteThis is Khudi, the pearl that God took away from man, "Amar E Rabbi", Iqbal found that out, Reclaimed that from God, polished that and gave that pearl his own name, "Khudi", aaaaah, what a beautiful name,
"Khudi" is....... Beautification of soul.
ReplyDeleteIn my personal opinion, Khudi is the point of leaving oneself and unifying with the universe and the almighty.
Bhatti.
