Farman-e-Khuda
(Farishton Se)
GOD’S COMMAND
(To His Angels)
Utho! Meri Dunya Ke Ghareebo Ko Jaga Do
Kakh-e-Umra Ke Dar-o-Diwar Hila Do
Rise, and from their slumber wake the poor ones of My world!
Shake the walls and windows of the mansions of the great!
Garmao Ghulamon Ka Lahoo Souz-e-Yaqeen Se
Kunjishik-e-Firomaya Ko Shaheen Se Lara Do
Kindle with the fire of faith the slow blood of the slaves!
Make the fearful sparrow bold to meet the falcon’s hate!
Sultani Jamhoor Ka Ata Hai Zamana
Jo Naqsh-e-Kuhan Tum Ko Nazar Aye, Mita Do
Close the hour approaches of the kingdom of the poor—
Every imprint of the past find and annihilate!
Jis Khait Se Dehqan Ko Mayassar Nahin Rozi
Uss Khait Ke Har Khausha-e-Gandum Ko Jala Do
Find the field whose harvest is no peasant’s daily bread—
Garner in the furnace every ripening ear of wheat!
Kyun Khaliq-o-Makhlooq Mein Hayal Rahain Parde
Peeran-e-Kalisa Ko Kalisa Se Utha Do
Banish from the house of God the mumbling priest whose prayers
Like a veil creation from Created separate!
Haq Ra Ba-Sujoode, Sanamaan Ra Ba-Tawafe
Behter Hai Charagh-e-Haram-o-Dair Bujha Do
God by man’s prostrations, by man’s vows idols cheated—
Quench at once My shrine and their fane the sacred light!
Main Na Khush-o-Bezar Hun Mar Mar Ki Silon Se
Mere Liye Mitti Ka Haram Aur Bana Do
Rear for me another temple, build its walls with mud—
Wearied of their columned marbles, sickened is My sight!
Tehzeeb-e-Nawi Kargah-e-Shisha Garan Hai
Adaab-e-Junoon Shayar-e-Mashriq Ko Sikha Do!
All their fine new world a workshop filled with brittle glass—
Go! My poet of the East to madness dedicate.

Please note a correction :
ReplyDeletein 4th line its "Fire" . . . not "Find"
'Find' is correct in the first line of verses, as the expression of fire appears in the next line. Thanks.
Delete"Jis khait kay dehkan ko", it should be "which", rather than find...

ReplyDeletehar khet aur fasl par pehla haq us fasl ke ugane wale ka hai, Allama ne ghareeb mazaareon ki ghurbat aur bechargi aur un ke malik jageerdaroon ke zulm ko bayan kia hai ko woh Zalim jageerdar ghareeb kisanon ku un ki mehnat ka jaaiz haq bhi nahi dete aur puri fasl par qabza kar lete hain. Ye Inqilab ka naar hai aur is shair mein usi falsafe ka aks hai jo Islam ne dia hai ke mazdoor ki mazdoori us ka paseena khusk hone se pehle ada kardo. Allama Takhreeb kari ka dars nahi de rahe, sirf ye keh rahe hain ke us khet se ugne wali fasl agar apne kisaan ko roti ne desake to us par kisi aur ka bhi haq nahi, Ishaar Us Jageerdaar par hai jo Kisaan ka haq maarta hai.

ReplyDeletePeeran-e-Kalisa Ko Kalisa Se Utha Do....kindly someone elaborate its meaning....I understand the literal meaning of it..but whats the real message behind it.
ReplyDeletePeeran, peer ki jama ( plural), Kaleesa is Urdu for church but here it means Khanqaah ya Msjid, matlab wo log jinhon ne mazhab ko apni jaageer bana kar khuda aur bande ke darmiyaan khare hogaye hain, Allama un ke baare main kehte hain keh khuda aur bande ke darmiyaan koi waseela ya mazhab ke thekedaar ki zaroorat nahi. Agaain Ishaara Aulia Allah ki taraf nahi balke Un bazameer Peeron aur Ulama par hai jo mazhab aur Deen ke naam par apni rozi aur siasat karte hain.
